Christchurch Earthquake

September 2011

One year on from the initial Christchurch Earthquake of September 4th 2010 life, business and the landscape within our community and throughout the countryside has changed dramatically.

After standing proud for 126 years, the Lichfield Street headquarters of Dowsons Shoes in the CBD has unfortunately succumbed to the earthquake and been demolished. Our Ferry Road shop in the Eastern Suburbs has sustained heavy damage and is currently CLOSED.

However, thanks to the considerable efforts of our staff and supporters, we are pleased to report that as of September 8th, our shop in The Palms Shopping Centre in Shirley is OPEN FOR BUSINESS again and we look forward to catching up with all out loyal customers over the coming days and weeks.

Our Papanui, Hornby and Church Corner Shops have remained OPEN FOR BUSINESS throughout the past difficult year and once again we thank our staff, both here in Christchurch and around the country, for their hard work and committment and our customers for your support and encouragement. We could not have done it without you.

With Spring in the air, new season styles in our shops and Summer just over the horizon, it might just be time to 'kick up our heels' are look forward to getting Christchurch and the country BACK ON ITS FEET!
